Christmas Events 2023

Watton WI have had a busy time this Christmas with a Carol Service and a festive meal as well as taking part in the town's Christmas Festive Market.

The Festive Market took place at the end of November and we joined many other local community groups to provide entertainment for the towns' people. The town had been decorated and the Christmas lights were switched on later in the afternoon.  Our WI held a tombola, as many gifts had been generously donated by our members. These were sorted into groups to suit both children and adults and were well received by those who visited our stall. The proceeds will help our WI with future events.

A Carol service was held in conjunction with the ladies from Saham Toney WI, at the Methodist Chapel in Saham Hills. It was well attended and both WIs took an active part in the service, which had traditional carols, and contemporary readings. Tea and sweet treats were provided at the end of the service, giving the ladies the opportunity to chat and enjoy each others company.

Many of our members enjoyed a lovely evening at The Swan in Hilborough for a Christmas meal, during December.  Members had donated items for a Christmas raffle and each lady was given a free raffle ticket for the draw. A special thanks goes to Carol who used the donations to create a number of hampers as well as ensuring there were enough gifts for everyone to take one home. A Secret Santa was also organised and members also made donations for a charity in lieu of giving individual Christmas cards. The committee had worked very hard to provide an enjoyable evening, with time to share friendship over a tasty meal. I am sure this was much appreciated by all who attended.

Our members also had the opportunity to attend and take part in the "Carols by Candlelight" service at the Watton Methodist Chapel on Christmas Eve.
