Welcome to Example Federation
A Warm Welcome to the Norfolk Federation of WIs
Margaret Collingwood, Federation Chairman, says
I am extending a very warm welcome to all our visitors to this page introducing the Norfolk Federation of WIs. We are proud that this year is the start of our second Centenary. Since our formation in 1919 we have grown into a large Federation with nearly 5,000 members and over 150 WIs.
The health, wellbeing and safety of our members and office staff is the Federation’s first priority. This is a fast moving and fluid situation and we are carefully monitoring Government advice. The Board of Trustees of the Norfolk Federation therefore took the decision to close the Federation’s Office at Evelyn Suffield House to everyone; members, Sub-Committees, the Board of Trustees and the public, for the foreseeable future.
Following Government advice on reducing non-essential contact, most Norfolk WIs have taken the decision to cancel their monthly meetings for the time being. Federation events that were planned for March, April and May, have been postponed (or unavoidably cancelled) until the crisis is over. All current Federation information can be found on our Facebook page. If you need to contact us you can do so by email –firstname.lastname@example.org
However, we recognise the importance to our mental health of staying in touch. This we are achieving by social media – Facebook, Instagram, etc. WI Secretaries are being kept abreast of Federation updates by email and share these with members. Importantly, we are continuing to publish the Norfolk WI News Magazine, so that members still feel connected to the WI family.
The Federation is also part of the Norfolk VCSE Covid-19 Action Group, a Norfolk initiative bringing together the County Council and voluntary organisations, in order to co-ordinate help in communities and disseminate information. We will be
sharing information from the Action Group to WI members over the coming weeks.
We know how vital it is to keep our mental health as safe as our physical wellbeing. The strength of the WI is in keeping an eye on each other, keeping in touch and keeping positive, never more so in uncertain times. WI members know that they can draw on the support of their fellow members.
