August Celebration
In 1948 a group of Spixworth ladies joined together and Spixworth WI was formed.
2018, 70 years later and Spixworth WI is thriving, calls for a celebration! yes.
What a celebration, the evening began with President Liz Moy welcoming our two honoured
guests. Norfolk Federation Chairman Margaret Collingwood and Federation Secretary
Louise Casson. Margaret then presented members with certificates in appreciation of their support to the WI. 8 members received certificates for 25 + years, 2 for 50 + years and 1 for 60 + years.
This was followed by the “Card Game” which caused much hilarity among members, throwing down their cards and grabbing presents. After using all that energy, a cup of tea maybe. The time had come to cut the Celebration Cake, wonderfully decorated to fit the occasion, and to enjoy with a cup of tea.
After which we were entertained by one of our own members, Judy together with her partner David. A selection of the “Top Ten Hits” from the 1940’s – 50’s with everyone joining in. A fantastic evening of celebration, with every member taking home a souvenir gift. The evening ended with the singing of Jerusalem.
