About Us
The beginnings of our WI started on a Wednesday, 1st October 2008 when a group of ladies met at the Copeman Centre to talk about forming a new Women’s Institute. The meeting was led by a WI Advisor and due to the high level of interest shown at this meeting, it was agreed to set up a WI group in the village.
The inaugural meeting was on 19th November 2008, where the committee was formed and the officers appointed.
The name of the WI was also voted upon.
BRISTON & MELTON CONSTABLE WI
We are a friendly and welcoming WI, always pleased to see new faces. We meet on the third Tuesday of every month in the main hall at the Copeman Centre in Briston. We have a varied programme of speakers throughout the year and there are regular monthly groups for Crochet, Knit & Natter, Walking, Lunch, 10 pin bowling and Crafts.
In addition to the above, there are planned outings and events. Some of the items proposed for 2023 are the North Norfolk Railway Gin Train, the jazz night on the steamer from Hoveton, a coach trip to Anglesey Abbey and a walking tour of Norwich. There are many crafts that can be enjoyed too.
