Norfolk Day

Hempnall WI celebrated ‘Norfolk Day’ on Friday 27th July by decorating our village War Memorial, Bus Shelter and Village Sign with ‘Norfolk Flag’ bunting and Flags and posters.  We gained permission from the Parish Council!!  We served tea/coffee and ‘Norfolk Cakes’ at two venues in the village.

The ‘Norfolk Cakes’ we chose were: Norfolk Vinegar Cake, Norfolk Shortcake and Norfolk Honey Cake.  ‘Yarmouth Kipper Straws’ were also served for those preferring a savoury taste.

We charged £1 per serving and all the money (£215) goes towards the Admiral Nurses collection, as discussed in the latest PALs newsletter.  Many people also donated more than the £1 charge!  We also donated £60 fundraised from our very successful ‘Healthy Living Day” to the Admiral Nurses fund.
