About Us

Haddiscoe & District WI was set up in 1976 so our 40th Anniversary looms.

We cover an area of small villages in the vicinity of Haddiscoe, namely Aldeby, Burgh St Peter, Wheatacre, Toft Monks and some of our members come from further afield.  At present membership stands at 46 and our meetings are held on the second Monday of the month except for August.  We start at 7.30 and hold our meetings in Haddiscoe Village Hall which has Disabled Access and toilet.

For six months of the year we invite speakers on various subjects.  We have several active groups including, Craft, Darts, Cards and Books.  This year we have organised two coach trips, one to the Houses of Parliament and the other to Newmarket Racing Stud.  We have held two workshops where we learnt how to make a small Stained Glass garden ornament and the other to learn Calligraphy and Cartoon Drawing.

Many other events go on during the year, too many to mention here.  However there is one we would like to mention and that is the annual party we hold for the elderly and isolated people in the villages.  This is a day where we reach out into the community and enjoy a day with our elderly neighbours.  We supply food, entertainment and transport where necessary.
