Creative Activities

Centenary Salver Novice Class WinnerWe provide activities involving visual and creative arts to all members within the Federation.

We also promote all aspects of the arts for your enjoyment, in the form of demonstrations, exhibitions, competitions, and organising trips to exhibitions and Museums.

There are opportunities to attend all-day workshops at the Federation Office, or around the County.  These have been as diverse as ribbon embroidery, stained glass and cookery demonstrations.

The Sub-Committee aims to reflect the requirements of members and therefore suggestions for future activities are always welcomed.

Centenary Salver 2024

This annual event attracts many entries from our members. It is a co-operative competition and all WIs within the Federation can take part. The theme of the competition is decided by the Sub-Committee and various crafts are undertaken to interpret the theme.

For 2024, the theme is 'A Day to Remember'.

'On with the Show' has been written for exhibitors, judges and show committees. It is an invaluable guide for anyone involved in show work. (You will need to be able to log on to My WI).

There is also an Individual competition this year, with the theme of 'A Cushion'.   Click HERE to see and download the information

Four Corners Craft Days
Two workshops were held over a couple of days, and some of our members from across Norfolk, came to the Creative Activities Sub-Committee's "Four Corners" craft workshops.
Everyone really enjoyed making all the things, even those who felt that craft wasn't 'their thing'.  Everyone was able to make a desk calendar, a mini journal, a stitched teabag holder and a Norfolk stitch keyring.

CRAFT DAY 2021 AT BACTON VILLAGE HALL

Bacton Craft day 2019The day held on Saturday 23rd October 2021 was very successful and enjoyed by all who attended.

We hope to hold one in autumn 2022. Watch out for details nearer the time.

ALSO!

The year culminates in a large sale known as “Unwanted/Unfinished”, held in Evelyn Suffield House.

We can also arrange for our Pop-up Shop, of donated craft items (such as embroidery silks and knitting wool), to be available for WI meetings.

Some courses are available to certificate level should you wish to take your interest further; for instance, we also organise Food Hygiene Certificates.

The Sub-Committee aims to reflect the requirements of members and therefore suggestions for future activities are always welcomed.
